Corliess Jenkins Davis is a native of Pinellas County. She was born and reared in St. Petersburg, FL. Her parents, the late Helena Reed Rutledge and George W. Jenkins, were both educators in the Pinellas County School System. Following the tradition of her parents, Corliess retired as a school administrator from Pinellas County Schools after 37 years of service. 

Corliess received her early education from Pinellas County Schools – Perkins/Lakeview Elementary, St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Disston Junior High School and Boca Ciega High School. She has a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Tennessee State University, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership/Administration from Nova Southeastern University and has done further studies at the University of South Florida. 

She has been married to Herbert Davis for 32 years. They have a daughter, Cydney, who is also following family tradition by currently teaching and pursuing her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Pepper, the family dog, a salt/pepper Schnauzer, is loved by all. 

Corliess is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inductee into Phi Delta Kappa National Honor Society for educators, Florida/Pinellas Retired Teachers Association, a member of the Tennessee State University Alumni Association and a James B. Sanderlin Board Member. Corliess is a woman of strong faith and belief in God. She is honored to be a part of the ALPHA House Board. This fits well with her favorite mantra, “If I can help somebody along the way … then my living shall not be in vein.”
