After receiving a doctorate from the University of Notre Dame, George Martin worked in the diocesan education offices of the Diocese of Lansing, Michigan, and the Diocese of Oklahoma City — Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Then he was President and Publisher of Servant Publications, Ann Arbor, Michigan, for seven years. In 1979, he founded God’s Word Today magazine, a daily Scripture reading guide, and was its Publisher and Editor.

After retiring from God’s Word Today, he spent 15 years studying the four Gospels and writing an exposition of each of them, completing the last of them, Bringing the Gospel of John to Life, in 2015.

George and his wife, Mary, have been married for 54 years and have five children and five grandchildren.
